One question I get all the time is HOW do I capture audio on a wedding day? Here’s my 3 go to audio sources for each and every wedding. This guarantees you have crisp audio in your films no matter how the day pans out.
1. The Lav mic; also known as the lapel, lavaliere, or lav mic. This little mic is discreet and powerful. It’s the main source of audio for all speaking-heavy moments.
2. The recorder. I use this guy to pull the audio straight out of the DJ’s board or speakers to capture all your music form the day + a backup source for anyone who is speaking.
3. The shotgun mic. This guy goes on top of the cameras to capture what’s happening all around us! It’s a failsafe for all other audio sources and provides good ambient sound for the sound design in your films.
