Sam and Sophie’s love story is the kind that stays with you. From their first meeting at 321 Coffee to their heartfelt wedding celebration at The Angus Barn in April 2025, every part of their journey has been full of intention, joy, and genuine connection.
As a NC wedding photographer, I get to witness so many beautiful moments, but this day felt especially meaningful.
Their story started at 321 Coffee at the Raleigh Farmers Market during the summer of 2020. Sophie noticed Sam during a break and felt something spark. That spark quickly grew into a strong friendship, which then turned into a deep and lasting love.
They connected over their love of cats, their shared values, and their heart for serving others. For five years in a row, they attended Night to Shine together, made countless memories on their dates around Raleigh, and built a relationship grounded in faith, love, and mutual respect.

In February 2024, Sam planned a surprise proposal for Sophie at the 321 Coffee storefront, the place where it all began. He had a vision for how he wanted to ask her. Rose petals in the shape of a heart. Their favorite song, “This is It” by Scotty McCreery, playing in the background. Friends and coworkers gathered to celebrate afterward.
With help from the 321 Coffee team, the proposal came together beautifully. Sophie said yes, and they celebrated with the people who have supported them since the very beginning.
Although Sam and Sophie exchanged vows privately in September 2024, they celebrated their marriage in a big way in April 2025 with a joyful wedding at The Angus Barn Pavilion in Raleigh. If you’ve never been, this venue is one of the most iconic wedding locations in North Carolina. The warm wood interiors, romantic lighting, and beautiful outdoor spaces make it perfect for timeless wedding photos.
The ceremony was full of emotion. Friends and family gathered to watch Sam and Sophie renew their vows, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The love surrounding them was undeniable. From the heartfelt toasts to the packed dance floor, every part of the day felt like a celebration of their journey and their future together.
This wasn’t just a pretty wedding. It was a reflection of who Sam and Sophie are as people. Their joy is contagious. Their gratitude is genuine. And the support system they’ve built is strong.
As a NC wedding photographer, these are the moments I live for. The real ones. The in-between ones. The small glances and big hugs. The stories that started with coffee and turned into a lifetime of love.
If you’re dreaming of your own wedding at The Angus Barn or somewhere else in North Carolina, take a note from Sam and Sophie. Choose a venue that means something to you. Celebrate in a way that feels true to your relationship. And surround yourself with the people who have loved and supported you through every season.
Sam and Sophie, thank you for letting me be part of your wedding celebration. Your love is beautiful, and it was an honor to capture it.
