California is famous for a reason. The topography is stunning with the mountains + the beach – it’s one of my favorite spots in the country! I’ve been to be a destination wedding videographer for quite a while and travel all over the world, but California still calls to me after all these years. There’s endless things to do like hiking in the national parks, skiing, swimming, boating, relaxing, drinking wine in Napa, the options are endless! California is the perfect location to host your destination wedding. It’s relatively inexpensive to travel to and there’s accommodations for every budget! Here’s a few of my favorite places from North to South:
Northern California wedding venues: Gardner Ranch is a gorgeous outdoor option! For you wine-o-s, the all inclusive Nella Terra Cellars in Sunol is an obvious choice, or opt for the classic Meadowood in Napa. Things to do: Of course you’ll want to get out and adventure or host a fun welcome party for your out of town guests! Some activities that look like a blast are: Visiting Tahoe for a day on the water, hiking in Yosemite for your adventurous folks, or visit the Sonoma Valley for a wine tour!
Central California wedding venues: Los Angeles and the Bay area have so much to offer, though not as much as the north and south regions do for outdoor activities.
Things to do: Central California is great for city vibes and more tourist attractions like WB studios, and Disney. This wedding at The Mission Inn will check all the boxes for a place to stay, a luxe spa, and gorgeous grounds! An easy decision for a destination wedding. The Maybourne (formerly the Montague) in Beverly Hills is a show stopper with both outdoor and ballroom wedding venues. While you’re in LA, visit Vanderpump dogs and pick up your pooch a treat (our pups loved the VP Dogs bones!), or take a group trip to Universal Studios!
SoCal: This wedding at Sacred Mount Julian still goes down as one of my favorites! This group was so fun and the location was obviously stunning! Julia, CA is close to San Diego and is famous for it’s homemade pies, so be sure to snag one on your way through town! Be the talk of all your friends and get married on a yatch! Zolna Yatchs is one of my favorites located in San Diego, CA! San Diego is also one of my favorite places to elope or have a micro wedding on the beaches nestled in the rocks like at Sunset Cliffs or of course head to Joshua Tree for an elopement!
Things to do: San Diego is full of fun places and things to do! The San Diego Zoo is obviously a favorite for adults and kids alike! Visit La Jolla beach and see the seals basking in the sun, or go on an adventure in the mountains!
No wedding is complete (or can even happen at all??) without a bomb planner! Here’s a few of my favorites: LVL Weddings and Events s boast a pretty impressive portfolio and can handle your luxury wedding with ease! Kristin Banta has got you covered on all things bespoke and unique. Finally, Jenni Grubba specializes in destination weddings and can pull off all those travel plans for you and your guests!
