In part 2 we talked about some of the planning process and now we’re fast forwarding to wedding day! Wherever you’ve chosen to get married, by this point you’ve welcomed your guests with an amazing welcome party and you’re rested up for wedding day. Most destination weddings follow a traditional wedding day timeline with an afternoon reception, sunset photos, and dinner and dancing. Your day may look something like this:
10 am – Brunch
12:00 – Hair and Make Up for the ladies
-Photo and video on site and ready to roll!
– Other vendors start to set up for the ceremony and reception
1:00 – Men start to get ready
3:00 – Everyone is dressed and ready to go (this is the time to exchange gifts and letters)
3:30 – First looks (optional) and bridal party photos
4:30 – Hair and make up touch ups, snacks, and down time before the ceremony
5:00 – Guests are seated
5:30 – Ceremony
6 – Family photos
6:30-7:30 Sunset photos
7:30-10 – Reception
While you’re getting ready your guests will be enjoying their morning and may even try popping in and out of your room to say hi. Pro tip: If you don’t want the interruptions, assign a member of the bridal party to guard the door. Your wedding planner will be in and out making sure everything is running smoothly and that the ceremony and reception spaces are matching your vision. They will be there to direct you down the aisle and keep your partners eyes off you if you don’t want to be seen before the ceremony. Your photographers and videographers will be working away capturing all the details and moments. The caterers will be prepping food and setting the tables. The florist will float between the ceremony and reception space building a little paradise. Your cake will be delivered and set so nicely on the cake table and you won’t have to worry about a thing!
After your wedding day you could consider a farewell brunch with your guests although this is not required. No one expects to see you much after your wedding, so enjoy your time as newly weds! Some couples slip away to another resort or private Air BnB away from guests on the wedding night, but it’s up to you and your style! When you return home from your destination wedding you may have sneak peeks and teaser films waiting for you from me and your photographer! These are super fun to out out into the world and receive the warm wishes! Or you can hold off on sharing these images and videos until you have a small party with the friends and family that couldn’t attend your wedding in person like we talked about in part 2. This a fun time to share photos and videos in a private viewing type environment to make these friends feel special since they couldn’t physically be with you!
Now it’s the excruciating wait for your final films and photo gallery! It seems like so long, but it’s because we’re working so hard to preserve your memories forever! After you have all your products, it’s such a kind gesture to leave glowing reviews for the vendors who helped make your day special! We literally live off of reviews and work of mouth referrals so if you had a great experience, be sure to let others know!
I can’t wait to be the videographer for your destination wedding! Send me any questions you have about the process so we can figure this thing out together. Enjoy some destination wedding Gold + Sage has gotten to be a part of below!
